What is different about Septicare? Unlike most hoof block systems on the market, Septicare is 1. Not temperature dependant. Septicare can be used in any weather without needing to be pre-warmed. 2. Septicare is not sensitive to moisture - there is no need to dry the hoof, and it can even be used in the wet! The other great advantage of Septicare is that it can be dispensed in any regular caulking gun. We do supply a very nice-quality Septicare gun, at a reasonable price, but your regular caulking gun will suffice. For block application, firstly fully treat the injured claw of the hoof to ensure best recovery. Then prepare the sole of the healthy claw, making it as flat as possible to maximise bond area. Apply Septicare adhesive generously to give glue depth of about 3mm (when spread over the bond area). Press the block lightly onto the claw, but not so much that the glue squeezes out. Position block carefully to ensure load-bearing is around the hoof wall and heel. After 15-30 seconds the hoof can be let down for load bearing.
Septicare Cartridge Instructions
Place the cartridge in the caulking gun
Unscrew the protective cap (save)
Remove the tube plug by pulling outwards (save). (This may require pliers.)
Screw the mixing tip onto the cartridge and dispense glue onto block (or claw)
After use leave tip in place until next requirement
For next use glue in tip will be set. Unscrew and discard, replace with new tip
NB: If left unused for longer periods (more than 3-4 weeks) it is possible the glue will set further into the cartridge. As an alternative after use, retrieve plug and cap from points 2 and 3 above and replace*. Glue will keep longer with these in place.
*Cartridge plug should be replaced in same orientation as when removed.

“Shoof” is a shoe-for-a-hoof. This product is used for the treatment of lameness in cattle.
The Shoof is purposefully constructed in a very open manner. This allows the hoof to “breathe” which is essential for a fast recovery. The medication and bandage supplied with the Shoof are also essential for successful treatment.
The Shoof copper-sulphate medication is effective in curing and hardening the hoof-horn, even in the worst conditions. The special Shoof bandage supplied acts like a filter, keeping dirt out and the copper-sulphate in, even if the animal is walking in very bad conditions (eg: dairy farm roads and yards, and muddy paddocks).
Cattle Shoof can be re-used many times with our Shoof Refill-Kit components. Non-standard bandage or medication may cause failure of Shoof. Each Cattle Shoof will last years of re-use.
The greatest advantage of Easy Bloc is the very flexible side wall, which allows a good fit to a wide variety of hoof sizes and shapes and also enables easy removal. Next is the longer and better positioned sole for greater stability, and the slightly extended toe cavity enabling a better fit on overgrown hooves. Easy Bloc is supplied as a complete kit, with four or 12 shoes and the two-part liquid and powder glue components required to attach them. Procedure for use is as follows:
1. The affected claw is examined and treated as required to ensure a fast recovery.
2. The non-affected claw is cleaned and trimmed to a natural shape, compatible with the Easy Bloc.
3. Set the Easy Bloc into the specially designed holder in the package lid, where the glue components are easily added and mixed.
4. Remove Easy Bloc from holder and apply to the healthy claw. Leave in place two to three minutes.
5. Release the cow. Easy Bloc should be removed after 3-4 weeks, if it has not shed naturally.
Easy Bloc powder and liquid are also available separately in 12-pack quantities.
FIL Tell Tail Paint aerosols can be used as tail paint, or as very good general purpose stock markers particularly suitable for cattle (not for use on wool). Colours are fluoro, and are highly visible and will usually last up to four weeks, even in wet weather. So as well as being genuine tail paints for mating identification, they are also ideal for warning marks in the dairy. Another great feature with FIL is that the can empties its full contents, even if used horizontally. One can will do 40-50 average tail marks. Net contents 500ml.

Excess hair growth on udders can be a serious source of contamination of milk, and also a factor causing mastitis infections. Eliminating excess udder hair reduces significantly the amount of mud and manure accumulating on the udder. This dirt can be a significant cause of environmental mastitis. Udder Singe uses a low-temperature butane flame to burn hair away in 1-2 seconds, without causing any pain or damage to udder or teats tissue. Singing of udder hair is common practice in the northern hemisphere. The Shoof Udder Singe is supplied complete with a 600ml canister of butane gas. The wand is 75cm long with a plastic grip. The flame is controlled with an adjustable valve, to produce a ‘lazy yellow flame’ which will not burn the udder (This flame can be tested by running your hand through it). One can of gas should singe 300-400 udders.

Tailwell has only three moving parts. Of these, only one - the self-lubricating sliding-block Rotator Bearing - is subject to any wear. The reduction in moving parts has resulted in a cutting machine that draws the minimum amount of power, ensuring the maximum number of tails are cut from each charge.

Tailwell should be used on a 14-volt cordless power drill, with an operating speed of 1,200 to 1,750rpm. (Higher or lower drill speeds do not cut better, and may damage the machine, voiding any warranty.) A lightweight drill with a high quality battery is the best to use. A quality Li-ion 1.5Amh 14v drill battery should allow trimming of about 70 tails per charge, depending on conditions.

The Tailwell is simply placed through the flexible drill sleeve, and the chuck tightened firmly on the drive shaft. The drill-sleeve is then pulled back firmly onto the drill body to prevent any rotation of the machine. The bungee cord is then put around the back of the drill, and pulled firm. This part is for safety only, to prevent the Tailwell dropping off the drill if the chuck becomes loose.

If tails are not contaminated by sand, the cutters should stay sharp for more than 2,000 tails (depending on conditions). Sharpening the cutters is easily done by inexperienced users. The cutters are removed by opening the drive case. (Tools are supplied for this.) Honing paste is then applied to the cutter faces and they are ‘ground’ together by hand. This process should take only a few minutes. DVD and hard copy instructions are supplied.

Most important is regular and frequent lubrication of the cutters. Special oil is supplied in the kit. Tailwell Cutter Lubricant has been formulated specially for this purpose. It is a non-throw, non-dust-gathering light oil which will not ‘clog’ the cutters. We strongly recommend continued use of this lubricant, available from your Tailwell stockist. Lubricant should be used sparingly but frequently on the cutter tips - every 30-40 tails (or more frequently with sand contamination).

If cutting performance drops, the cutter tension should be adjusted promptly, before hair becomes trapped between them. This is achieved using the three finger-only screws at the back of the cutter head. Follow instructions supplied. Cutters must be kept correctly tensioned at all times to ensure correct cutting performance and cutter life.
