This is a great device and a credit to the Shoof development team. Design application No. NZ418621.
When a calf is born with a contracted flexor tendon, the fetlock joint is caused to knuckle under, causing serious limitation to the mobility of the calf. The BOSsplint is applied to the back of the leg, with the splint bottom edge at ground level. With application of the splint the calf should have normal mobility immediately. Remove the splint after 4-5 days. Splint length 40cm o.a.
Note: The BOSsplint can be slightly modified to suit the leg by use of a hot air gun or hair dryer. Be sure to note ‘TOP’ marking on splint.

Recent research has confirmed that several diseases, including E.coli scours and Joint-ill, find their way into the newborn animal via the umbilical cord. Sprays and dips can also cause problems. Our umbilical clamps are the solution. Simply attach as soon as possible after birth. Remove after 24 to 48 hours. Place clamp approximately 5mm from top of umbilical cord. Cut cord below clamp to prevent suckling. Clamps can be disinfected and re-used if desired, or can be left to fall off naturally. Ideal for piglets as clamps are large enough not to fall through creep floors. Clamps 65mm long o.a.

The HK Standard (previously HK121) calf puller is the world’s original calf puller. Made in Germany, it is 100% reliable. The grooved shaft never slips. The modern, model 2020 traction device, gives smooth pulling power on both foward and backward strokes. Pulling can be either tandem (legs together) or sequential (one after the other) depending on hooks engaged. A thumb-operated quick-release lever is incorporated. An excellent feature is the split-apart 1.7m-long main pole, making for an easy transport on bike or quad. And easy storage. (Disassembled length 85cm o.a.) Supplied with specially-produced ‘padded’ nylon ropes.
Lowest-cost calving rope option. 7mm polypropylene rope. Single version is 1.1m long with eye splice one end. (Two of these should be used for assisting calving.) The double version is 1.6m long with eye splices at both ends. Supplied each.

Our flat-braid ropes are made especially for Shoof. They feature stitched-flat areas before each eye loop. These reduce leg tissue damage. The 12mm rope is supplied in both red and white colours. This can be useful when the calf legs are not yet visible. Set the red rope on the left and the white rope on the right one. Then as you are manoeuvring the calf you know which leg you are pulling. Very useful. Ropes are a generous 1.8m long - useful to go around your back if need be for better purchase..

Quality Shoof-Shop brand obstetric lubricant, useful for assisting difficult births, pregnancy diagnosis and similar obstetric tasks. Cetrimide formula. (Not suitable for A.I.)
**NB: As peri-anal inflamation can occur from repeated use in sensitive cases, this product is not recomended for equine use.
